Our client is a recently listed, venture capital firm, which specializes in providing Seed through to Series A funding and debt finance, focusing primarily on applied AI, marketplaces & e-commerce.
In addition, they also provide much sought-after people expertise to support the growth of their investment portfolio, including technologists/engineers, designers, marketers, and talent specialists. This provides unparalleled exposure to early-stage businesses, their people, and their journey.
Overview of the role
The finance function operates at the heart of our client’s business, as a multi-functional, business facing department, supporting Investments alongside Technology & Talent Acquisition teams.
As Head of Finance, this represents an outstanding opportunity to join a small, but growing, team of 4, where, with full support you will also enjoy the autonomy to truly develop your role within the company.
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will initially manage a team of 3 direct reports adding to the team as the Group grows and the business demands it.
Primary Responsibilities
- Portfolio valuations
- Company & Portfolio Partnering
- Review Monthly Subsidiary Financial Accounts
- Statutory Reporting Annual Audit
- Group Cashflow
- Internally Developed Software
- Tax
- FCA Compliance
- R&D Tax Credit
- General (e.g special projects, ad-hoc support with the CFO, improved financial reporting etc)
Your Skills/Experience
- IPEV Valuation experience within a private equity or VC fund or within an advisory team at a Top 10 accountancy firm
- Industry experience as a hands-on Finance Manager, Financial Controller or Group Reporting Manager in a financial services business or Private Equity / Venture Capital Fund
- Listed Plc experience would be beneficial
- Demonstrable technical accounting background, including knowledge of local IFRS & FRS 101
- Qualified Accountant Ideally ACA or ACCA (CIMA will be considered)
- Big four trained preferred
- Excellent understanding of accounting standards (FRS 101 and IFRS)
- Advanced skills in Excel &# high standard of accuracy with financial data
- A desire to work in an agile, high-performance environment.

- An ability to determine insightful observations from detail for management attention
- Commercial awareness
- Excellent communication/ interpersonal and influencing skills with an ability to express complex issues succinctly and clearly.
